Sant Baba Bhag Singh University stands as a living embodiment of the noble vision, spiritual wisdom, and selfless service of the revered saints of Dera Santpura Jabbar—Sant Baba Bhag Singh Ji, Sant Baba Hardyal Singh Mussafir Ji, and Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji. Their lifelong commitment to social upliftment through education laid the foundation for this sacred mission. The realization of this dream took concrete shape with the establishment of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University through Punjab Government Act No. 6 of 2015.
The educational journey of the Dera began humbly yet resolutely in 1954 with the establishment of primary education for girls—a progressive step far ahead of its time. This initiative gradually expanded into a senior secondary school and later into colleges and professional institutes, ultimately culminating in the establishment of a full-fledged university. Each milestone reflects an unwavering belief that education is the most powerful instrument for social transformation.
The founding Chancellor, Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji, and the second Chancellor, Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), envisioned a centre of higher learning dedicated to serving the poor, underprivileged, and rural youth. Deeply aware of the financial and social challenges faced by students in accessing quality education, they resolved to bring higher education to their doorstep—affordable, accessible, and value-based.
Today, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University offers a wide spectrum of academic programmes spanning Engineering, Management, Sciences, Humanities, Commerce, Education, Law, Sports, Rural Development, and Agriculture. These programmes range from skill-oriented short-term courses to doctoral research, catering to diverse academic interests and career aspirations while maintaining a strong focus on employability, innovation, and societal relevance.
