The Constitution of India provides equality, freedom, justice, and dignity to all, including persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). According to the 2012 census, the population of Divyangjan is 2.68%, which is 2.21% of the total population.
In recent years, there has been a vast and positive change in society's perception of persons with disabilities. The government realized the challenges faced by Divyangjan in accessing facilities, despite their constitutional rights. In response, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 was framed.
The Act emphasizes easing access to public and private buildings, workplaces, public utilities, religious and recreational sites, healthcare services, law enforcement, and transport. Under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the "Accessible India" (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) campaign was launched to create barrier-free access for Divyangjan across various domains.
In educational institutions and workplaces, disabled persons often face difficulties accessing classrooms, washrooms, libraries, playgrounds, hostels, and messes. Our institution has built infrastructure and facilities to support them, such as ramps, lifts, Divyangjan-friendly washrooms, tactile signage, assistive technologies, and human assistance facilities.
Sant Baba Bhag Singh University is committed to providing a friendly and barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities. A university-approved policy is in place regarding Divyangjan support.

In addition to policy, the university has developed infrastructure and facilities to ensure accessible education without discrimination.
Each building is equipped with ramps, wheelchairs, and reserved parking. Utility ramps enable smooth wheelchair movement. A lift is available in Block No. 5. Reception provides necessary information.
A tactile path is built parallel to the metaled road for easy mobility. Guiding and warning blocks are installed at diversions for visually impaired individuals. Benches are placed every 20–30 meters for rest. An E-Rickshaw is deployed for transporting persons with disabilities from the gate to hostels and blocks.
Washrooms are designed with wide doors and grab handles for ease of wheelchair users. They are regularly cleaned and maintained for hygiene.
Light poles are installed from the main gate to each block, in parking areas, crossroads, and building entrances to ensure safe night-time movement.
Directional, informational, and instructive signboards are installed throughout the campus to help visitors and students navigate easily. Identification signs are present at each office. Under the Green Initiative, signage is placed in the Library, Examination Cell, Canteen, Parking Area, and Gardens.
Assistive tools are provided in the Centralized Computer Centre with dedicated systems for Divyangjan. Software includes:
