Programme-Overview:

A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Botany is a three/four year undergraduate programme as per NEP (Details of 1 year-UG certificate, 2 year-UG Diploma, 3 year-B.Sc., 4 year-B.Sc. (Hons./Hons. with Research mentioned below) that provides a comprehensive study of plant life, covering various aspects like structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, ecological interactions, physiology, genetics, biochemistry, enzymology, and stress biology. It equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through laboratory work, field studies, and research projects.
The curriculum includes plant systematics, plant biotechnology, genetics, plant breeding, ecology, economic botany, medicinal botany, anatomy, ethnobotany, environment, natural hazards and disaster management, conservation biology, forestry, agroforestry, physiology, industrial and applied botany, pharmacognosy, nursery techniques, mushroom cultivation, microbiology, resource botany, evolution, seed science and technology, landscaping, organic farming, immunology, biochemistry, bio-instrumentation, and bioinformatics.

Eligibility:

Candidates must pass in 10+2 or its equivalent examination in Science subjects with at least 50% marks obtained by the candidate in Biology subject as Core subject and in aggregate from a reputed/recognized board (5% relaxation for SC/ST as per Govt norms).

I. Undergraduate Certificate in Botany

Duration: 1 year or 2 semesters
Eligibility: 10+2 with at least 50% in Biology (5% relaxation for SC/ST)

II. Undergraduate Diploma in Botany

Duration: 2 years or 4 semesters
Eligibility: UG Certificate in Botany or B.Sc. 1st Year with Botany as a core, min 40% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST)

III. B.Sc. Botany

Duration: 3 years or 6 semesters
Eligibility: UG Diploma in Botany or B.Sc. 2nd year with Botany as core, min 40% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST)

IV. B.Sc. (Honours) Botany

Duration: 4 years or 8 semesters
Eligibility: B.Sc. with Botany as core, min 40% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST)

V. B.Sc. (Honours with Research) Botany

Duration: 4 years or 8 semesters
Eligibility: B.Sc. with Botany as core, min 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA
