Botanical garden is the collection of plants with their botanical names for conservation of plant species, scientific research and education. It provides knowledge about classification and diversity of plants. It provides an excellent source of ex-situ conservation of plants and used for education and research purposes for students, researchers and layman. Keeping in views a botanical garden was established in 4.5 acre of land in 2019 inside the campus in the memory of Sant Baba Malkit Singh ji founder Chancellor of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar.
The present botanical garden has more than 500 plants including 115 species from 100 genus belonging to 56 families of plants. It includes angiosperms from 27 monocots and 77 dicots, 7 gymnosperms and 4 pteridophytes. Based on Benthom and Hooker style classification gymnosperms are placed in between monocots and dicots. The botanical gardens is further divided into various paths and sections including pteridophytes, gymnosperms, dicots, monocots, palms section, cactus and succulent plants, rose section, arboretum, hydrophytes, floriculture section, bamboo section, nursery and medicinal and aromatic plants. Most parts of botanical gardens are under construction.
