Under the aegis of IQAC and IIC, the Department of Life Sciences & Allied Health SciencescelebratedNational Pollution Control Day on February 5, 2025, to spread awareness about the harmful effects of pollution and the importance of environmental conservation.
The eventbegan with an inaugural speech by Dr. Shweta Singh, HOD, Life Sciences & Allied Health Sciences highlighting the significance of pollution control and sustainable development.
Around 55 students from B.Sc MLS 4th Semester enthusiastically participated and conducted an awareness rally within the university campus and surrounding villages.
The rally began from the University Institute of Sciences, Block 5 and marched through the university campus covering all teaching blocks; Block 3 (Institute of Education and Humanities), Block 7 (Institute of Law, Commerce and Management), Block 8 (administrative block) and Boys Hostel, Gurudwara Dera Bhagatpura and finally reached to the university Gate no. 2.
The rally then marched through the village Khiala and returned to the university campus from Gate No. 1. While marching through the village, the students interacted with the local public and educated them about the devasting effects of air, water and noise pollution.
Throughout the rally march, students moved by holding placards and raising slogans on pollution prevention, waste management, and eco-friendly practices.
While marching within university premises, students interacted with students from other institutes and educated them on the importance of reducing plastic use, planting trees and eco-friendly habits.
The rally also spread the message to maintain greenery and clean surroundings by segregating and recycling waste on campus and in society.
A team of six faculty members accompanied and played a supporting role for the students in the rally.
This initiative was well received by the students and many of the villagers expressed their willingness to adopt sustainable practices,especially organic farming.
Overall, the rally was a great success and spread an impactful message on pollution control and inspiring environmental conservation.
