Activity Report
The Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Innovative Teaching and Learning Pedagogy" was organized by the University Institute of Humanities from 02/12/2024 to 06/12/2024 through virtual mode. The program aimed to empower faculty members with cutting-edge teaching strategies and tools to foster a more engaging and effective learning environment. The FDP provided a platform for educators to explore innovative pedagogical practices that can be integrated into their teaching methodologies.
Day 1: The program commenced with an inaugural session where Dr. Harpreet Singh, Assistant Professor, UIH, welcomed the participants. Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Professor, UIH, introduced the schedule of the FDP and welcomed the guest speaker of the day, Dr. Aneet Kumar, Professor and Dean, UIE, SBBS University. He discussed various factors affecting learners’ development and emphasized the shift from traditional teaching to learner-centered approaches.
Day 2: Dr. Amarjit Singh, Assistant Professor, JGNDPSOU, Patiala, delivered a session focusing on active learning strategies such as collaborative projects, problem-based learning, and case studies.
Day 3: Dr. Lakhwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, UIE, SBBS University, highlighted the role of technology in enhancing teaching and learning experiences. She demonstrated the use of digital tools and platforms including Learning Management Systems (LMS), educational apps, and online collaborative tools.
Day 4: The session focused on Assessment and Evaluation in Innovative Pedagogy. Dr. Jagteshwar Singh, Associate Professor, UIET, SBBS University, emphasized innovative assessment techniques such as formative assessments, peer assessments, and reflective journals. A hands-on workshop was conducted where participants developed assessment tools aligned with innovative teaching practices.
Day 5: Dr. Vikas Sharma, Associate Professor, SBBS University, conducted a session on Reflective Practices and Continuous Professional Development. He stressed the importance of reflective teaching for continuous improvement in pedagogical practices.
The FDP concluded with a collaborative discussion where participants shared their reflections and plans for implementing the learned strategies in their respective classrooms.
