Objective
The extension activity aimed to raise awareness about digital literacy among the residents of Village Damunda, Jalandhar, especially focusing on local farmers and school children. The goal was to introduce them to the basic concepts of digital tools, internet safety, and the importance of using technology in daily life.
Activities Conducted
1. Awareness Session for Villagers and Farmers
- Students of BCA and MCA final semester conducted an interactive session with the local community members, primarily farmers.
- The session covered:
- Basic digital literacy: What it means and why it is important.
- Using smartphones and the internet effectively.
- Digital banking and online payment methods.
- Cybersecurity precautions: Avoiding scams, protecting personal data, and safe browsing habits.
2. Visit to Govt. Primary School, Damunda
- Students visited the local government primary school to engage with young learners.
- They conducted a fun and informative session for school children, covering:
- Introduction to computers and the internet.
- The benefits and risks of technology.
- Tips for staying safe online.
- The importance of learning digital skills for the future.
Impact
- The villagers and farmers expressed their appreciation for the awareness session, stating that they found the information practical and easy to understand.
