Activity Report
With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji & able guidance of respected Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, and under the aegis of IQAC, Department of Physical Sciences, University Institute of Sciences organized an extension activity in the form of Awareness drive on “Ozone Layer Protection: A Global Responsibilities, Need & Impact” in Dingrian Primary School, Bhogpur Adampur Road Jalandhar on 10th February 2025 at 10.00 am onwards, led by the activity incharges Ms. Arwinder Kaur, Dr. Sonia and 18 students of the department. The aim of the activity is to raise awareness among the school going students about the importance of the ozone layer in protecting life on earth by blocking harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiations. This includes educating students about the consequences of ozone depletion, such as an increase in skin cancer, eye diseases, and disruptions to ecosystems. The event was started with the welcome speech of the activity incharges Ms. Arwinder Kaur and Dr. Sonia and then the event was handed over to the students. Students of Physical Sciences were gathered in a big hall in the school to share their learning experiences. As a part of the event, students of B.Sc. Physical Sciences 2nd sem, B.Sc. Non- Medical 4th,6th sem have organized four activities-Speech, Skit, Mime and Plantation. Students provided the awareness of Ozone Layer Protection among the school students by showing them charts and posters. School students actively participated in the question answer session and their efforts were appreciated by giving them gifts (pencil packets and candies). Arshdeep, Brij Bhushan, Harjot, Rajrani, Jaspreet, Tania, Minakshi of BSc physical science 2nd semester students performed skit and mime. Aditi, a B.Sc. Non-Medical 6th semester student, educated school students about pollution and its various types using informative charts. Harpreet Kaur, a B.Sc. Non-Medical 6th semester student, fascinated the school students with a heartfelt poem on pollution. Prabhjot Kaur and Harmanpreet Kaur, from B.Sc. Non-Medical 6th semester, delivered an insightful speech on the precautions needed to reduce pollution. Ishadeep Kaur and Manpreet Kaur, students of B.Sc. Non-Medical 6th semester, explained key aspects of the ozone layer, using relevant examples to enhance students understanding. Manpreet Kaur and Sakshi, also from B.Sc. Non-Medical 6th semester, shared crucial information on ozone layer protection, emphasizing its importance to the students. To conclude the event, both university students and school students came together for a plantation activity, promoting environmental awareness. This awareness campaign was very fruitful for all and is highly appreciated by the school authorities. They appreciated the effort of the faculty members and students of SBBSU for organizing such activities.
