REPORT ON LEGAL LITRACY CAMP on RIGHT TO INFORMATION
The University Institute of Law, under the aegis of IQAC, SBBSU and in collaboration with DLSA, organized LEGAL LITRACY CAMP ON RIGHT TO INFORMATION to commemorate the a legal literacy camp on the Right to Information (RTI) was conducted to educate citizens about their fundamental right to access information from public authorities. The camp aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and active civic participation. Legal experts explained the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005, and demonstrated how individuals can file RTI applications to seek information related to government policies, decisions, and public spending. Real-life examples were shared to illustrate the impact of RTI in uncovering corruption and ensuring better governance. The camp empowered participants with the knowledge and tools to use RTI effectively, encouraging a more informed and responsible citizenry. with the aim of encouraging students to reflect upon and creatively express the values and ideals. This significant event was organized with the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Braham Ji), and under the constant motivation of Sant Baba ManMohan Singh Ji, Chancellor, SBBSU. The competition was held under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, the administrative support of Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Vikas, and the academic stewardship of Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, Dean Academics, who all played instrumental roles in shaping the success of this initiative. The program was also conducted under the aegis of Organizing unit/agency collaborating agency: University Institute of law/UnderAegis of IQAC & District Legal Service Authority, Jalandhar/NSS, which enriched the event with its legal outreach and commitment to constitutional values. Their collaboration added further credibility and legal insight to the students’ artistic and intellectual efforts. The event was coordinated under the able guidance of Dr. Pooja Bali, Dean, University Institute of Law, who served as the Convenor of the competition. Her unwavering dedication to promoting legal awareness and academic excellence was evident throughout the event. Jalandhar Shallu student of BALLB 8thSemester discussed about the benefits of RTI. and Ajay student of BALLB 8thin his address threw light on Senior Citizens Rights And welfare Schemes. Awareness related to our Rights by Rohini Mehra students of BALLB 6thSemester. Diya BALLB 8th Semester discussed about the Right to Framers and Agricultural Laws .Camp was attended by the People of Village Panchayat members The queries raised by the participants of the camp answer satisfactorily answered in the Interactive Session by the Faculty Members of UIL Ms Manjot Kaur ,Ms. Navdeep Kaur Mr. Girija Nand and Dr. Manpreet Kaur. the entries were evaluated based on originality, relevance to the theme, visual appeal, and the depth of message conveyed. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, highlighting the students’ commitment to upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution. The competition concluded with a reflective address from the dignitaries, appreciating the talent and social sensitivity exhibited by the participants. A heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Pooja Bali, Dean, University Institute of Law was extended to the management, organizing team, participating students, and the DLSA for their unwavering support in making the event a grand success.
