With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji, Brahm ji and with the benign endorsement of Chancellor, Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji, and under the able guidance of worthy Vice Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, a workshop on “Empower Innovation with data mining using rapid miner”, was successfully organized on 17th Dec. 2021, by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, under the aegis of IQAC, IIC and Capacity Development and Skill Enhancement cell. The goal of the workshop was to make participants understand the use of rapidminer software package for data mining, text mining and predictive analytics. This tool automatically analyzes large scale data in an intelligent manner.
Around 100 participants comprising of Faculty and Students from various universities and colleges, participated in this workshop. The resource person of the workshop Dr. Punam Rattan, working as Associate Professor in School of Computer Applications, LPU, Phagwara. She is also Certified International Career Coach from MINDLER. She discussed data mining techniques Classification, clustering, Regression, Association rules, Outer detection, Sequential Patterns, and prediction. The dataset chosen was that of titanic to predict whether the passenger will survive on the titanic ship from the available input parameters.
The key takeaway of the workshop was to instill in the students the mindset of doing research in Data Mining with the available Data Science tools, one being RapidMiner.
