With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm ji), and benign endorsement of Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, and under the esteemed leadership of our Vice Chancellor (Prof) Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar Ji, Department of Agriculture organized Field day in village Arhana and Ghurial on 6th December, 2023, Sarpanch and villagers gathered in the village and asked various questions about farming and horticulture. Dr. Vijay Singh (CoD) explained about the soil and nutrition role in the farming. Ms. Kamaldeep (Assistant Professor) advised the farmer to apply the recommended dose of fertilizer and pesticide in the crop as per the region and variety. He advised to test the soil of the field prior to any application of fertilizer in the crop. Dr. Shalu Vyas (Assistant Professor, Horticulture) gave advice about the fruit crops recommended in this region such as Guava, Citrus and Jamun. Villagers have shown keen interest in the crop of apple, almond and peach. She suggested the various varieties suited for the region. Dr. Vikrant Jaryan (HoD, Agriculture) advised not to exceed the fertilizer and pesticide dose than recommendation given by the university. He also suggested segregating the waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste from the house level. He also suggests making the vermicompost from the kitchen waste gathered from the household and sells non-degradable waste to the scrap seller. Rest of the waste should be disposed to the municipal corporation’s waste dump yard for further processing.
