First Plantation Drive

With the blessings of Reverend Chancellor and under guidance of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, the Environment Sustainability Management (ESM) Cell under the aegis of IQAC of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University has successfully oragnised the first plantation drive on 6th November, 2023 (Monday) in front of Block 5, in order to sensitize students about need to cherish and preserve the environment. On the occasion, Dr. P. S. Tyagi interacted with students and told the students about the importance of Palash tree. He informed that Palash (Dhak) is known as Butea monosperma and it is called as Flame of Forest owing to its large, and bright-orange red flowers. It is medicinally important plant which is also used for timber, resin, fodder, dye. It's flowers are used to prepare a traditional Holi colour called "Kesari". On the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Ms. Harjit Kaur, Mr. Anmolpreet Pal Singh, Dr. Mohan Lal, Dr. Indu Sharma and Dr. P. S. Tyagi were present. The students of M.Sc. Ag. (Horticulture) Vegetable Science semester III planted and adopted these saplings of Palash, and took pledge to look after these plants. The following pictures illustrate the glimpses of the event.
