With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji (Brahm ji), and with the benign patronage of our Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba ManMohan Singh ji and under the spirited leadership of our dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.)Dharmjit Singh Parmar ji and with the able guidance and support of Registrar and Dean UIET, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, the department of Computer Science and Engineering under the aegis of IQAC and IIC cell of SBBSU, organized a lecture on “My story- Motivational Session by Successful Innovators”
The session was delivered by Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Chief Technical Officer, O7 Services, Jalandhar. The resource person of the event elaborated the newly added characteristics in the definition of entrepreneurship. He also motivated the students to start their own venture and how they can enhance their entrepreneurial skills.
He spoke about the skills required to be a successful entrepreneur and the desire to improve their world, to be productive, to have the ability to spot new trends and to deal with failure. He also talked about pressing innovations of various companies like Amazon, Infosys that how they built up a customer service, inventory and shipping empire that allows offering everything possible for everyone. Along with this the simple innovations which social entrepreneurs can do with the help of inventions of their time was also shared with students as these can have more impact on the society and its issues too. He further encouraged the students to follow their passion according to their skills. The speaker shared her own experiences of how he started his journey by following his passion of working in software development. The speaker also answered all the queries of students in relation to how to identify ideas for start-ups, how to arrange funds, and how to develop social enterprises from scratch and still be able to earn profits to ensure sustainability of businesses in the long run.
Along with Mr. Gaurav Sharma, we had Mr. Gurminder Singh, alumni of SBBSU, 2023 passout student of B.Tech CSE, who is currently working as a Full Stack Developer. He shared his experiences of Grand Finale of Hackathon 2022, what challenges he faced, how he was able to overcome them along with his very supportive team members and mentors. He helped the students to understand their problem description thoroughly and develop prototype as a solution.
The total student participation in the lecture was 60 and there were 10 faculty members who accompanied these students.
The learning outcome of the lecture was the motivation that the students received, that they should never run away from the problems, rather they should face all challenges with a positive attitude and mind set. They also gained indepth knowledge of entrepreneurship and traits required to excel in business venture
