Internal Smart India Hackathon, SIH 2023

It all starts with a thought. “ With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh ji (Brahm ji), and with the benign patronage of our Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba ManMohan Singh ji and under the spirited leadership of our dynamic Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.)Dharmjit Singh Parmar ji and under the able guidance and support of Registrar and Dean UIET, UICAIS, Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, the department of Computer Science and Engineering and the department of Computer Science and Application under the aegis of IQAC and IIC cell of SBBSU, organized Internal Smart India Hackathon, SIH 2023.
Smart India Hackathon is in-line with “Make in India” initiative. To iterate the efforts towards the vision of Digital India and to promote digital literacy in order to make development a comprehensive mass movement, MHRD, AICTE, i4c and Persistent Systems have been organizing Smart India Hackathon since year 2017.This model promotes out of box thinking in young minds. It is a vehicle for getting new ideas and converting these ideas into products and business. It is a unique innovation model.
It's a non-stop product development competition, where problem statements are posed to technology students for innovative solutions. These problems are from either State Ministry, Central Ministry or from Industry personnel or Student Innovation. For Smart India Hackathon-2023 there were 58 hardware and 181 software ‘problem statements’
Evaluation team comprised of Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Sr. Project Manager, IBM Certified from O7 Services, Jalandhar and Mr. Gurminder Singh, Full Stack Developer from O7 Solutions, Jalandhar. Evaluation criteria followed by jury members included novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity and details in the prescribed format, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression. After thorough evaluation of proposed ideas to various problem statements, 10 teams with total of 60 students were shortlisted for Finale. At the end of the hackathon, participation certificates were distributed to all the students.
The real outcome of hackathon was achieved, with participation in nationwide initiative, Internal Smart India Hackathon 2023 which provided students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving.
