Plantation Drive By Students on World Earth Day

Date: 24-04-2023

The Environment Sustainability and Management (ESM) Cell, SBBSU in collaboration with Dynamic Drillers Club, Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) under the aegis of IQAC celebrated World Earth Day in Village Daroli Kalan on 24th April, 2023 along with their team and students.
The theme for the event was “Invest in your planet” and it composed of two components: tree plantation and awareness campaign. The venue selected for the plantation was Govt. Primary Smart School and Public Health Centre (PHC), Daroli Kalan. The main motive of this event was to motivate the students to flourish and restore the flora around them and spread awareness of protecting the trees.
The event was led by Dr Mohan Lal, member ESM cell and Er Arshdeep Singh, Coordinator, Dynamic Drillers Club, EE. During this occasion around 40 saplings (Ashwagandha, Neem, Bel, Arjuna tree, Gulmohar, Peepal) were procured from the local nursery. Around 33 students became active members of this plantation cum Awareness Drive.
At the commencement of the event, the team along with accompanied students reached Govt. Primary Smart School where around 20 saplings were planted. After plantation in the school, Dr Amandeep Singh, Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering made the school students aware about the pollution, water wastage, energy wastage and methods of preventing them. He conveyed to the students that Earth is our mother and it is our sole responsibility to nourish it and preserve it. The students at the school along with their teachers made a promise that they would foster the trees planted in the school premises.
The second segment of the plantation was continued at Public Health Centre (PHC), Daroli Kalan. The remaining 20 saplings were planted in the area in front of the center. The staff present at the centre appreciated the contribution of ESM Cell and Dynamic Drillers Club, EE. At the end of the event, ESM Club applauded the efforts of students and zeal with which they participated in the event.
Plantation of trees is a major investment in protecting and restoring the planet when issues such as global warming and climate change are on the rise. The drive was a huge success, inspiring students to contribute their bit towards Mother Nature.
