National Farmer’s Day Celebration

With the Heavenly Blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji, and under the supervision and patronage of Hon’ble Chancellor Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar, and Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji (Vice President SBBSMCS), Managing Committee members S. Pritpal Singh Ji, Sunil Vats and others, Department of Agriculture celebrated Farmers Day on 9-02-2023. In this event progressive farmers from different regions of Punjab participated in large number and narrated their success stories and difficulties being faced by them. They advocated for diversification of crops. Amritpal Singh of Fuglana narrated his success story regarding cultivation of Turmeric, Amrik Singh of Gambowal explained his success in developing Soybean Processing Centre, Maninder Singh explained how he has become economically sound by cultivating Dragon Fruit. During this interaction session most of the farmers unanimously stressed on the need of adopting organic farming so as to save atmosphere and soil and water from getting poisonous by chemical fertilizers and pesticides. S. Mohinder Singh Dosanjh suggested that University should start developing Foundation and Certified seeds for distribution to the farmers and also pointed out that there is need of developing a store cum outlet. Vice Chancellor, SBBSU assured all the farmers to solve their problems and to find out the ways for their further progress. Sr.Hardaman Singh Ji (Secretary SBBSU) thanked all the farmers for their valuable suggestions and faculty of Agriculture Department for organizing the event. Honorable Chancellor SBBSU Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji interacted with the farmers, listened to their suggestions and Honoured all the farmers for their tireless contribution to the society.
