Free Medical Diagnosis Camp (2022)

Under the aegis of IQAC, the department of Life Sciences, Allied Health Sciences & Agriculture Sciences in collaboration with Dashmesh Youth Club, Hoshiarpur and RD Clinical Laboratory Nasrala organized “FREE MEDICAL CAMP” in the premises of Guru Nanak Sadh Sangat Charitable Hospital, Kalra on 28th October 2022. To be convenient to the registrants, the camp place and date was informed to the village Sarpanch before one week of the date of conduct.
About 56 students from (both UG and PG courses) the discipline of Allied Health Sciences participated as volunteers to serve the local residents and the communities residing in nearby places. The major objective of the camp was to cater the healthcare needs of poor communities as well as to provide consultation and subsequently the possible treatments.
In this camp, preventive health check-up as well as diagnosis of health related issues of general prevalence was carried out. The tests performed in the camp include Blood group testing, Blood Sugar, serum Uric acid and lipid profile. All clinical investigations were performed in the laboratory of Guru Nanak Sadh Sangat Charitable Hospital, Kalra by the students under the supervision of their teachers Dr Chetna Sharma and Ms Sonia. The financial assistance including the resources for testing was provided by both our collaborative partners: RD Clinical Laboratory, Nasrala and Dashmesh Youth Club, Hoshiarpur.
More than 53 patients were diagnosed for various health related issues and were guided for further consultation and treatment. Out of these, 26 children from Govt. High School, Kalra were among the youngest registrants for blood group testing. All the reports were distributed at same time. Overall more than 90 person were benefitted from this camp.
All the members of our collaborative partners (Dashmesh Youth Club, Hoshiarpur and RD Clinical Laboratory, Nasrala) assisted us in hosting and overall conduct of the camp. All the volunteers play vital role in making the camp success and helped people to all needy way.
Dr Gurbase Kaur, Sr Medical officer at Guru Nanak Sadh Sangat Charitable Hospital highly appreciated the students for their dedication to serve the community for novel cause. She also insisted to organize such camps on more frequent basis to serve the healthcare needs of communities free of cost or at very nominal rates in future also.
