Visit to Bharaj Life Care Hospital & Trauma Centre Hoshiarpur

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), under the supervision and patronage of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences visited Bharaj Life Care Hospital & Trauma Centre Hoshiarpur on 18th May, 2022. The aim of the visit was to provide an opportunity to students to explore the different department and techniques used to diagnose the patients in a hospital. Around 26 undergraduate students of B.Sc.MLS (4th Sem), accompanied. by two of the faculty members “Mrs. Satvir Kaur and Ms. Bhupinder” went for the visit.
During the visit, the students visit different departments of Bharaj Hospital Laboratories (clinical lab , X-ray lab) including General Patient Ward, Emergency Ward and Trauma Centre and became familiar with the equipment’s in the hospital premises.
Clinical Biochemistry -Firstly, Students visited the Clinical Biochemistry where they were introduced about operation and applications of various basic instruments related to clinical biochemistry such as pH meter, flame photometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Electrophoresis unit. Students also gained knowledge to work on some latest and more advanced automated models of Clinical Biochemistry Analyzers and ELISA Readers.
Microbiology Lab -Then the students moved to Microbiology Lab where the instructor enriched their knowledge about the various types of culture media and their applications.
The instructor also demonstrated about preparation of the Blood agar media & procedure for disinfection and sterilization of the lab-wares like Petri dishes and other lab wares. The students also gained information regarding handling of bio-safety tools.
In General Ward and Emergency Wards, students interacted with the admitted patients and asked about their health. The direct contact with patients is an essential component of health care professional training. At last, the supervisor, Dr Rachhpal Singh Bharaj personally meet the students and appreciated their passion towards the learning.
Overall, the visit was very inspiring and enriched the knowledge of students about advanced instrumentation and functioning of various clinical laboratories in the Institution/Hospital premises.
