Two-Day Plantation and Plant Adoption Drive

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) under the supervision and patronage of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Environment Sustainability and Management (ESM) Cell organized a two-day Plantation and Plant Adoption Drive under the aegis of IQAC and IIC on 3rd and 4th March, 2022.The event was conducted as a part of Science Week (28th February- 4th March, 2022) celebrated by UIS.
Day 1: 3rd March: The drive was carried out in SBBSU adopted village Manko on 3rd March 2022 in collaboration with Subhash Rattan Bank Wale Agriculture Sewa Society, Hoshiarpur. During this event different medicinal and ornamental plants were distributed by the ESM Cell, SBBSU. The saplings were planted mostly close to the school, Panchayat Ghar and near the house of those interested in adopting and nurturing the plants voluntarily. The motive of the event was to spread awareness among the public regarding planting more and more trees. The members of ESM cell explained and emphasized that plantation is need of the hour and everyone should show empathy towards the trees. The ESM cell recommended all the local communities to make tree plantation a ritual to mark celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries and festivals. They also suggested that the person planting any sapling should take full responsibility towards the fostering of the plant. Audience have highly appreciated the efforts of students and team members of ESM cell for organizing this drive.
Day 2: 4th March: The Drive was continued in the SBBSU campus where the students’ donated the saplings of their choice and planted them at varied location within the campus. Besides, planting the students adopted the planted saplings and trees with an aim to contribute in their nurturing. The students were motivated to adopt the plants already growing in or around the campus. More than 50 students participated in total with great enthusiasm. The efforts of students were appreciated by providing them Certificate of Appreciation.
