As a part of celebration of “WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY”, the Environment Sustainability and Management Cell, SBBSU with the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), under the supervision of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Vice Chancellor Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar under the aegis of IQAC and MoE-IIC organized a “Tree Plantation Drive” in the university campus on 13th June, 2022. The Plantation drive was inaugurated by Honorable Secretary SBBSMCS; Sardar Hardaman Singh Minhas, Vice Chancellor SBBSU, Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar and Registrar SBBSU, Dr Indu Sharma. In their inaugural speech, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar highlighted the importance of tree plantation for the conservation of environment. Dr Indu Sharma recommended these trees be adopted by the students of upcoming session as a part of UGC campaign ‘One student, One tree’.
After inaugural session, each member of ESM cell planted the trees at the selected sites opposite to Block 5. Around 20 saplings of ornamental trees: Gulmohar and Amaltas were planted. These plant species have captivating beauty and will also strengthen the plant biodiversity across the university campus. The theme of the World Environment Day 2022 is “Only One Earth”. The tree plantation is one step towards rejuvenation of green earth. The plantation drive was successfully accomplished.
