Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Visit

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), under the supervision and patronage of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences visited Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) on 17th November, 2021. The aim of the visit was to provide an opportunity to students to explore the scientific concepts and provide some recreation time. Around 30 post graduate students of M.Sc Zoology (1st and 3rd Sem), M.Sc Microbiology (1st and 3rd Sem) and M.Sc Chemistry (1st and 3rd Sem) accompanied by 3 faculty members went for the visit. During the visit, students visited different departments of GADVASU and became familiar with the equipments and research methodology followed by the respective department.

  • In College of Animal Biotechnology students were exposed to latest instrumentation such as electrophoresis unit, Real time PCR, refrigerated centrifuge, nanodrop etc and various other research techniques.
  • In Apiary Unit students learnt about bee rearing, bee behavior, and extraction of honey. Besides, the use of various instruments for bee rearing was also explained.
  • In the Fisheries Department students learnt about the fishes and their rearing. They came to know about various types of fishes (ornamental as well as non-ornamental), and the artificial fish feed unit.
  • In Clinics Department and Poultry Farm students gained knowledge regarding different animal diseases and animal health care practices. They also became familiar with poultry and its rearing techniques. The visit was very informative and recreational.
