Diabetes: Insulin synthesis, secretion and transport

The Department of Life Sciences & Allied Health Sciences, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar, organized one day webinar on the Topic “Diabetes: Insulin synthesis, secretion and transport” under the supervision of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar on 02nd March, 2022. Dr. Mohd Salim Reshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri (J&K)was the keynote speaker for the event. The webinar was inaugurated by worthy Vice Chancellor with a welcome note for the keynote speaker and all the participants. Dr Younis Ahmad (Organizing Secretary) introduced the speaker to participants and gave brief introduction regarding webinar. He also motivated all the participants to utilize this webinar as a unique opportunity to gain awareness about the diabetes.

More than 260 participants attended the webinar through Google meet. The Google meet link was shared with all the registered participants one day prior. Video call link: https://meet.google.com/fvw-moqw-daa During the webinar, Dr. Mohd Salim Reshi emphasized on the diabetes, types, role of insulin in the metabolism of glucose. Further he elaborated how why the prevalence of diabetes mellitus day by day in the entire world. Dr Reshi also threw light on the complications of diabetes, and how we can control the diabetes mellitus. He also explained the nutritional choices which diabetic patients shall eat, role of exercise in the control of this alarming endocrino-metabolic syndrome. Additionally, he also discussed about the other complications caused due to this endocrino- metabolic disorder, drugs available for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The lecture was followed by queries of the participants. After the question answers session, a feedback performa was shared with all the participants. All the participants were given E- certificates after receiving their feedback form. At the end, Dr. Shweta Singh (Coordinator, Life Sciences) delivered a vote of thanks to our respected speaker of the day Dr. Mohd Salim Reshi, for sparing his precious time from the bust schedule and sharing his valuable knowledge and expertise. Dr. Shweta Singh also thanked all the teachers of the organizing committee, students and all the other participants for making this webinar successful.
