Activity report
As per the guidelines of the Higher Education Ministry and UGC to celebrate ‘Swachhata Pakhwada 2025’, the Department of Commerce and Department of Management, University Institute of Commerce and Management (UICM), Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, organized a cleaning drive at the university’s adopted village Community Hall, MANKO.
Under the drive, students of UICM cleaned the Community Hall of the village so that locals could use the place for various purposes. During the activity, Sarpanch Kamlesh Rani and other gram panchayat members were present. The primary goal of the cleaning drive was to promote environmental consciousness, civic responsibility, and community engagement among students and staff.
The drive commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Ayshi Behal (Assistant Professor, Commerce Dept.), followed by cleaning activities across designated areas. Students and faculty performed numerous activities like cleaning the hall and adjoining streets.
The drive resulted in a visibly cleaner environment, heightened awareness about public hygiene, and strengthened collaboration across departments. Feedback from participants and community members was overwhelmingly positive.
At the conclusion, Dr. S. S. Taggar (Associate Professor, Management) guided the locals and students about the importance of cleanliness, especially after the floods. Dr. Taggar also congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and expressed gratitude towards the higher authorities of SBBS University, the Gram Panchayat of Manko village, and faculty members Ms. Yaswant Kaur (Assistant Professor, Management Dept.), Dr. Gagandeep Singh Salhan (Assistant Professor, Management Dept.), and Ms. Baljit Kaur (Assistant Professor, Commerce Dept.) for organizing the event. He further motivated all faculty and students to continue keeping their surroundings clean.
