The Department of Agriculture successfully organized a webinar on the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India on 15th May 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. The programme aimed to promote awareness and understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among students and faculty members while encouraging innovation and research.
The webinar was delivered by Dr. Prashant Sharma, NIPAM Officer, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Group 'A' Gazetted Officer, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. He provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs, and their significance in safeguarding innovation and research outcomes. He also discussed the patent filing process and emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual assets to foster entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
The webinar attracted approximately 60 participants, including students and faculty members, who actively engaged in the interactive session. All eligible participants were awarded e-certificates under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission upon successful completion of the programme.
The event was convened by Dr. Shalu, who coordinated the planning and smooth execution of the webinar. Dr. Vikrant Jaryan was the organizing secretory and Dr. Kumari Manisha was the Co-convener of the programme. The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants and significantly enhanced awareness of Intellectual Property Rights within the academic community.
