An expert talk on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Business was organized by the Department of Management at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University. The session aimed to enhance awareness among students and faculty about the importance of IPR in academia, research, and industry. The resource person of the day explained concept of intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and geographical indications. Secondly, Emphasis was placed on how IPR protects innovations, encourages creativity, and contributes to economic growth. Furthermore, the resource person elaborated on the step-by-step procedure for patent filing, including documentation, legal aspects, and timelines. The expert highlighted the event with Real-world examples were shared to illustrate how organizations leverage IPR for competitive advantage. During the session, the expert emphasized the role of IPR in encouraging innovation, safeguarding originality, and preventing plagiarism. A detailed explanation of the patent filing process was provided, covering the drafting of specifications, submission of applications, examination procedures, and enforcement mechanisms. The resource person also shared real-world case studies to illustrate how organizations and individuals have successfully leveraged IPR for competitive advantage and economic growth. Challenges such as lack of awareness, high costs of filing, and issues of infringement were discussed, along with opportunities available for students and researchers to protect their innovative ideas. The session proved to be highly engaging, with participants actively interacting during the Q&A segment. Students expressed appreciation for the practical insights gained, while faculty members acknowledged the clarity provided on institutional policies and the importance of integrating IPR awareness into academic and research activities. Research scholars, in particular, showed keen interest in exploring patent opportunities for their ongoing projects. In the last the focus was on Challenges & Opportunities like; common challenges faced in protecting intellectual property and the opportunities available for researchers and entrepreneurs. At the validatory session vote of thanks given by Dr. Manoj Kumar, he shows the science gratitude towards resourcperson of the day for spearing the valuable time and enlighten the students and faculty with the insight knowledge of the topic. The event leaving the audience motivated to adopt a proactive approach toward innovation and legal protection of intellectuaproperty.
