Event Report

With the blessings of Sant Baba Bhag Dilawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), under the patronage of the Honourable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, and the guidance of Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Vijay Dhir, the Department of Physiotherapy, under the aegis of IQAC and in collaboration with Punjab IAP Women Cell, organized a Free Physiotherapy Awareness and Treatment Camp on the occasion of International Women’s Day at the Physiotherapy OPD, Block No. 17, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University on 9th March 2026.

The main objective of the camp was to spread awareness among women regarding the importance of physiotherapy in maintaining physical health, preventing musculoskeletal disorders, managing neurological conditions, and improving overall quality of life. The camp included awareness sessions, physiotherapy consultation, practical guidance, and free treatment services. Participants were educated regarding:

  • Importance of physiotherapy in daily life and women’s health
  • Prevention and management of neck pain, back pain, and joint problems
  • Posture correction and ergonomic guidance
  • Exercise therapy and fitness awareness
  • Physiotherapy management for musculoskeletal and neurological conditions

The camp witnessed active participation from female faculty members, students, and female attendants working within the university campus. Participants benefited from physiotherapy consultation, exercise demonstrations, and awareness sessions.

The camp was successfully coordinated by:

  • Dr. Daljit Kaur (PT) – Head, Department of Physiotherapy
  • Faculty members of the Department of Physiotherapy
  • Student volunteers and Punjab IAP Women Cell members

Student volunteers actively assisted in conducting awareness sessions, exercise demonstrations, patient guidance, and management of participants throughout the camp. Their enthusiastic participation reflected the spirit of teamwork, social responsibility, and professional learning.

The camp commenced with an introductory session highlighting the significance of International Women’s Day and the importance of women’s health and wellness in society. The organizing team emphasized that women often neglect their own health while balancing professional and personal responsibilities, which eventually leads to various physical and psychological health issues. Through this initiative, the department aimed to encourage women to prioritize their health and adopt healthy lifestyle practices.

The awareness sessions conducted during the camp focused on educating participants regarding common musculoskeletal and neurological disorders affecting women. Detailed guidance was provided on the prevention and management of neck pain, low back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, cervical spondylosis, postural deformities, and joint stiffness. Participants were informed about the harmful effects of poor posture during prolonged sitting, computer work, mobile phone usage, and household activities. Demonstrations related to correct sitting posture, standing posture, lifting techniques, and ergonomic modifications were also conducted to help participants reduce the risk of physical strain and injuries.

The successful organization of the camp reflected the commitment of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University towards community outreach, women empowerment, preventive healthcare awareness, and promotion of physiotherapy services for societal welfare. Such initiatives play a vital role in encouraging healthy living practices and spreading awareness regarding the importance of timely physiotherapy intervention in preventing and managing various health conditions.

The program concluded on a positive and encouraging note with active participation, appreciation from attendees, and a collective commitment towards promoting health awareness and wellness among women. The Department of Physiotherapy expressed gratitude to the university management, Punjab IAP Women Cell, IQAC, faculty members, student volunteers, and all participants for their valuable support and cooperation in making the event a grand success.
