CELEBRATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY OF INDIA
The University Institute of Law, under the aegis of IQAC, SBBSU and in collaboration with DLSA, organized Constitution Day of India as we commemorate Constitution Day, we reflect on the profound impact of our nation's founding document on our lives. The Constitution is more than just a legal framework; it embodies the values of justice, equality, and freedom that define our democracy. Through this lecture, we aim to deepen our understanding of the Constitution's significance, exploring its historical context, key provisions, and enduring relevance. By examining the Constitution's role in shaping our society, we can appreciate the sacrifices made by its framers and the ongoing struggle to uphold its principles. As we celebrate Constitution Day, let us recommit to protecting and preserving the Constitution's ideals, ensuring that its vision of a just and equitable society en-dures for generations to come." This significant event was organized with the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Braham Ji), and under the constant motivation of Sant Baba ManMohan Singh Ji, Chancellor, SBBSU. The competition was held under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, the administrative support of Registrar Dr. Vikas, and the academic stewardship of Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir, Dean Academics, who all played instrumental roles in shaping the success of this initiative. The program was also conducted under the aegis of Organizing unit/agency collaborating agency: University Institute of law/Under Aegis of IQAC & District Legal Service Authority, Jalandhar which enriched the event with its legal outreach and commitment to constitutional values. Their collaboration added further credibility and legal insight to the students’ artistic and intellectual efforts. The event was coordinated under the able guidance of Dr. Pooja Bali, Dean, University Institute of Law, who served as the Convener of the competition. Her unwavering dedication to promoting legal awareness and academic excellence was evident throughout the event. As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, the University Institute of Law, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organized a thought-provoking lecture delivered by Mr. Girija Nand on the topic “Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity: Pillars of Indian Democracy.” The session provided deep insights into the foundational values enshrined in the Preamble to the Constitution of India, emphasizing their continued relevance in the contemporary socio-political context. Mr. Nand elaborated on how these ideals form the bedrock of Indian democracy and urged students to uphold and advocate these constitutional principles in their personal and professional lives. The lecture was well-received by faculty and students alike and concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session. The Indian Constitution is a cornerstone of the nation's democracy, adopted on November 26, 1949. It is a comprehensive document that outlines the framework of governance, fundamental rights, and directive principles of state policy. The Constitution establishes India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic, guaranteeing justice, equality, and liberty to its citizens. With its preamble, 448 articles, and 12 schedules, the Indian Constitution is one of the longest and most detailed constitutions in the world. It has played a pivotal role in shaping the country's development, promoting unity in diversity, and upholding the rule of law. As a living document, the Constitution has undergone amendments to reflect the changing needs of society, while its core principles remain steadfast, guiding India towards a more just and equitable society.
