Activity Report
Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU) organized a Blood Donation Camp on March 24,
2026, at its campus in collaboration with Fortis Hospital, reaffirming its commitment to
social responsibility and community welfare.
The camp was conducted by the Department of Allied Health Sciences under the aegis of the
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) to promote
voluntary blood donation and contribute to community healthcare.
The camp was formally inaugurated with Ardaas in the presence of Registrar Mr. Rajinder
Kumar and Deputy Registrar Mr. Roop Singh. The occasion was graced by Dr. Shweta Singh
(Dean, UIAHS) and Dr. Gurmanik Kaur (Deputy Dean Academics), Dr. Jagdeep Kaur (Dean,
UIET), Dr. Aksh Sharma (CoD), Dr. Chetna Sharma (Activity In-charge), Ms. Satvir Kaur,
and Mr. Vishal (Organizing Secretary), along with other esteemed faculty members from the
Department of Allied Health Sciences. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of such
initiatives in fostering social responsibility and encouraging students to actively participate in
life-saving activities.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from 75 (45 boys and 30 girls) volunteers,
including students, faculty, and staff members. Notably, 30 girl donors came forward to
donate blood. This is especially encouraging, as women in India often face issues like anemia
that limit their eligibility. Their participation reflects growing health awareness and serves as
an inspiration for others. The medical team from Fortis Hospital ensured all necessary
protocols were followed, including proper donor screening and maintaining hygienic
conditions throughout.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, SBBSU Dr. Vijay Dhir and Secretary, SBBSU, Sardar
Hardaman Singh Ji appreciated the efforts of the organizers and honoured Dr. Kusum Thakur
and her medical team from Fortis Hospital in recognition of their dedicated service and
support in successfully conducting the camp. The team also presented a letter of appreciation
to SBBSU, acknowledging the excellent organization of the camp and the overwhelming
response from the university community. The camp concluded successfully, reflecting the
spirit of compassion, service, and collective responsibility among all participants.
