Workshop on “Tools and Eyes of Nanotechnology (TEN-2022)”

With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), the benign endorsement of Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji (Chancellor, SBBSU), and under the able guidance of Prof. Dharamjit Singh Parmar (Vice-Chancellor, SBBSSU), Department of Physical Sciences (under the aegis of IQAC) have successfully conducted a Two Day National workshop on “Tools and Eyes of Nanotechnology (TEN-2022)” on 18-19th May 2022.

    Resource person for this workshop were:
  • Dr. Ankur Pandya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Nirma University.
  • Dr. Sandeep Arya, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India.
  • Dr. Kamni Pathania, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, India.

Dr. Ankur Pandey, expert for workshop is Sr. Assistant Professor in Physics, Electronics and Communication Engineering Department Institute of Technology of Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He has an experience of more than 14 years in the field of teaching and research and has published more than 22 research papers in the area of Computational Condensed matter Physics. Dr. Pandya has published 04 national and 01 international book. He is currently guiding five PhD scholars in the domain of Condensed Matter Physics at Nanoscale Sensors and Plasma Physics. Dr. Pandya is a reviewer for Condensed Matter Physics journal and has organized a national conference RAMAN-2020 and its sequel International Conference RAMAN-2022 at Nirma University. His current research interest includes Optoelectronic, magnetic and electronic properties of various nanoscale devices, and Nano Electromechanical Systems (NEMS).
2nd Expert of the workshop was Dr. Sandeep Arya (Sr. Assistant Professor ), Department of Physics, University of Jammu. Dr Arya He has more than 12 years of research and teaching experience, guided several M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. He is the recipient of various Indian National Fellowships. His research interests include Energy and Sensing nanomaterials. He has authored more than 60 research papers and 5 book chapters in several National and International Journals of repute. He is the Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Nanoelectronics and Materials (IJNeaM).
3rd Expert for the workshop was Dr. Kamni Pathania, Dr. Pathania, Senior Assistant Professor, School of Physics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. She has more than 17 years of research and teaching experience. She has guided several 5 Ph.D. and 23 M.Sc. students. She is the recipient of the Research Associate award awarded by the Indian Council of Medical Research in 2006. Her research interest is condensed matter physics. She has authored more than 45 research papers in several National and International Journals.
The workshop was designed with the intention of sensitizing the knowledge of the tools and advanced materials characterization techniques to understand and learn about Nanotechnology.
The increasingly large impact of nanotechnology on a day to day activities has been discussed. This workshop gives exposure to nanotechnology and its interdisciplinary relation with chemistry, physics, and mathematics, engineering and other sectors. More than 100 participants have participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
Dr Nisha Sharma, Head, Department of Physical Sciences, University Institute of Science addressed the delegates and shared the glorious history of the university.
Workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Worthy Vice-Chancellor, SBBSU. Sir expressed profound interest in the theme of the workshop. He highlighted the various inventions in the field of nanotechnology.
There were more than 141 participants in this workshop, all have participated enthusiastically. Students , faculty and research scholars from various disciplines of science and technology have participated in this workshop. All sessions were highly informative.
Workshop experts has provided a concrete knowledge about nanotechnology, various techniques used to characterize nanomaterials, recent advancements of nanomaterials especially in the field of energy harvesting, nanosensors, optical materials and in biomedical sectors.
Experts have shared various tools and techniques used to understand the properties and characterization of nanomaterials. They shared the importance of these tools.
Students, faculty have learnt various tools used in fabrication and characterization of nanomaterials.
Resource person have explained recent advancements in nanomaterials as biomaterials especially which are used as sensors, nanomedicines, bone repair.
This workshop was full of knowledge and a guiding tracking for young researchers.
