Report on “Diwali Exhibition cum Sale”

With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, under the guidance of the respected Vice Chancellor of SBBSU, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Dean Academic, Dr. Vijay Kumar Dhir, and Dean (UIE/UIH), Dr. Aneet Kumar, the Department of Fashion Designing successfully organized a vibrant Diwali Exhibition to showcase creative products crafted by talented students. The exhibition highlighted student innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical design skills ahead of the festive season.

The exhibition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members from various departments. The event served as an excellent platform for students to display their creativity, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial abilities through a wide variety of handmade products.

Objectives of the Exhibition

• To encourage creativity and innovation among students.
• To provide practical exposure in product design and development.
• To promote entrepreneurial skills through product marketing and sales.
• To enhance students' confidence by showcasing their handcrafted products to the university community.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition featured a diverse range of handmade lifestyle and fashion products prepared by the students, including:

• Jelly Candles: Colourful, transparent decorative candles with embedded ornaments.
• Wax Candles: Scented candles and uniquely designed traditional pillars and diyas.
• Handmade Jewellery: Trendy, eco-friendly necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and fashion accessories.
• Handicraft Work: Beautifully painted earthen pots, wall hangings, festive decorations, and other handcrafted items.

Pre-Event Workshop

All the products displayed during the exhibition were created by the students during an intensive two-day hands-on workshop organized by the department. Under the expert guidance of faculty members, students gained practical knowledge of raw material sourcing, product designing, execution, finishing techniques, and quality enhancement while working within stipulated timelines.

Conclusion and Impact

The exhibition received an overwhelming response from students, faculty members, and visitors, resulting in excellent appreciation and encouraging sales of the displayed products. The initiative provided students with valuable real-world experience in product development, merchandising, marketing, customer interaction, and commercial retail practices, thereby strengthening their practical learning and entrepreneurial mindset.

The worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, congratulated the entire organizing committee for successfully organizing the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Fashion Designing in providing students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities.
