Under the aegis of IQAC, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences celebrated World Anesthesia Day on 24th October 2024 to recognize the vital role of anesthesia in modern medicine and honor the pioneering work of Sir William T.G. Morton.
Historical Significance
World Anesthesia Day commemorates the first successful public demonstration of ether anesthesia by Sir William T.G. Morton on October 16, 1846, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.

- Inaugural Address: Dr. Shweta Singh, Dean UIS, followed by lamp lighting and floral welcome of the guest speaker.
- Keynote Lecture: Dr. Sumit Toor, Plastic Surgeon at IVY Hospital Hoshiarpur, presented on:

- Modern anesthesiology techniques and innovations
- Role of anesthesiologists in patient safety and care
- First aid and emergency response related to anesthesia
- Interactive Activities:
- Quizzes on anesthesia safety and risks
- Live skits and demonstrations of anesthesia procedures
- Student-created videos and posters showcasing historical and modern practices
- Cultural Segment: Performances and hands-on sessions to familiarize participants with anesthesia tools and equipment.
