As part of the 16 Days of Activism for Ending Gender-Based Violence and in compliance with UGC guidelines, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organised an awareness talk titled “Prevention of Child Marriage and Reporting Mechanisms” under the Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The session aimed to sensitize students about child marriage, its legal implications, preventive strategies, and available reporting mechanisms.
Dr. Shweta Singh, Dean, University Institute of Sciences (UIS), Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, delivered the session. Dr. Singh shared detailed insights on the consequences of early marriage, relevant legal frameworks, and the role educational institutions can play in eradicating child marriage.
The session received positive feedback and high engagement from students.
Feedback collected from participants was largely positive, noting the session's clarity and practical focus. The department will plan periodic follow-up awareness activities and collaborate with NSS to run community outreach programs supporting the prevention of child marriage.
