Activity Report
The Department of Agriculture, University Institute of Agriculture, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar, celebrated International Youth Day with great enthusiasm on 12th August, 2025, in the Seminar Hall of Block 5. The theme of the celebration was “My Role in Nation Building.” The event was organized under the national initiatives “Viksit Bharat @2047” and “Har Ghar Tiranga”, with the objective of instilling patriotism, responsibility, and a vision for a progressive India.
The program was organized by Dr. Shalu Vyas, Nodal Officer (Viksit Bharat, SBBSU), under the guidance of Dean Academics, Dr. Vijay Dhir, with the active support of the faculty members and students of the Department of Agriculture.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dharamjit Singh Parmar, as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed with a floral bouquet by Dr. Shalu Vyas, Associate Professor. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Vijay Dhir (Dean Academics), Dr. Shweta Singh (Dean UIS), Dr. Ajay Pathania (Dy. Dean Commerce), Dr. Mandeep Singh (Dy. Dean), and Dr. Samriti.
The ceremony began with the traditional Lamp Lighting by the dignitaries, symbolizing knowledge, positivity, and inspiration. The stage proceedings were conducted by Dr. Vikrant Jaryan, Head of Department (Agriculture), who ensured the smooth flow of the program and engaged the audience warmly.
In his inspiring address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping the future of the nation. He highlighted the values of discipline, dedication, and innovation, encouraging students to contribute meaningfully in the fields of agriculture, education, technology, and social service to achieve the vision of a developed India.
Around 30 students from various institutes and departments of the university actively participated in the celebration. Two major activities were conducted:
The keen interest and enthusiasm of the participants reflected their awareness and commitment towards national development.
The winners of both the speech and poster competitions were felicitated with mementos and certificates. All other participants were also honored with certificates as a token of appreciation, which boosted their confidence and motivated them to continue their efforts towards academic and social excellence.
The program concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their encouragement and participation.
Overall, the celebration of International Youth Day 2025 at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University proved to be a vibrant, meaningful, and inspiring event. It reinforced the importance of youth as the backbone of nation-building and motivated them to channelize their potential towards a sustainable and developed India.
