The NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) organized with the blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (BrahmJi), the benign endorsement of Honorable Chancellor Sant Manmohan Singh Ji, under the valuable guidance of respected Vice-Chancellor Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar, and support of Dr Vijay Dhir (Dean Academics, SBBSU). In accordance with the goals of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar conducted a series of awareness and sensitization programmes to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free campus environment. These initiatives sought to inform students, faculty, and staff about the harmful consequences of substance and tobacco abuse while encouraging a positive, addiction-free lifestyle among the youth.
On 26 November 2025, the University organized an awareness programme for students and faculty to highlight the risks associated with drug and tobacco use and to stress the importance of maintaining a tobacco-free life. The event commenced with NSS volunteers promoting awareness throughout the campus by displaying posters, sharing slogans and engaging in short interactive conversations. The activity played a significant role in increasing awareness and motivating students to make healthier choices. Members of the University community were also encouraged to take the official E-Pledge against Drug Abuse on the MyGov platform, reinforcing their collective commitment to the Government’s NMBA mission.This initiative emphasized personal accountability, social responsibility, and the crucial role of youth in preventing drug abuse through responsible actions and positive influence on peers.
To enhance the reach of the campaign, on 27 November 2025, various awareness videos showcasing the harmful effects of tobacco and related products were shared across all departments. Faculty members and students were encouraged to circulate these resources widely to strengthen the message of maintaining a healthy, disciplined, and tobacco-free campus.
Through these coordinated efforts, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Jalandhar reaffirmed its commitment to the national vision of building a drug-free and tobacco-free society. The University continues to work proactively toward nurturing a safe, healthy, and responsible academic environment in alignment with the objectives of the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan.
