Report on “World Immunization Day 2025”

Highlights of the Event

• Under the guidance of IQAC and IIC, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences observed World Immunization Day on 12th November 2025, acknowledging the global awareness day celebrated on 10th November each year. The event emphasized the vital role of vaccines in preventing infectious diseases.
• The main objective of the celebration was to inform students, faculty, and the community about the significance of immunization in protecting public health and contributing to global disease-prevention goals.
• The program began with an insightful inaugural address by Dr. Aksh Sharma, who highlighted the worldwide burden of vaccine-preventable illnesses and the importance of improving immunization coverage.
• A major attraction of the event was an engaging role play performed by students of M.Sc Medical Microbiology, Clinical Biochemistry, and Zoology. The act simplified key immunology concepts and demonstrated how vaccines protect individuals and communities.
• Students portrayed various immune system components such as:
  • macrophages
  • T-lymphocytes
  • B-lymphocytes
  • antibodies
  showing how the body identifies and responds to invading pathogens.
• The demonstration illustrated how vaccines mimic weakened or inactive pathogens to trigger:
  • activation of B- and T-cells
  • formation of memory cells
  • a rapid immune response on re-exposure
• Scenes portraying infections like influenza and polio highlighted the role of vaccination in preventing disease spread. Students emphasized herd immunity and how vaccinated individuals help safeguard the broader community.
• The creative role play was well received by faculty and participants for its educational value. It strengthened scientific communication skills and enhanced understanding of immunology and vaccination.
• In addition, many students took part in poster making and speech presentations focusing on the importance of immunization for all age groups.
• Overall, the event was informative, interactive, and impactful. It improved awareness of immunology, encouraged vaccine literacy, and motivated participants to support public health initiatives.
• The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shweta Singh, Dean UIS, who highlighted the importance of immunization in creating a healthier future.
