Rangotsav - Phoolon ki Holi
Under the aegis of the UCA Club, the Computer Science & Engineering Department of UIET, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, successfully organized the vibrant event "Rangotsav - Phoolon ki Holi" on 11th March at Block No. 5, SBBSU. The event aimed to celebrate the spirit of Holi while promoting creativity and cultural expression among students.
The event was held under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Jagdeep Kaur, Dean UIET and coordinated by Er. Hitakshi, Assistant Professor, CSE Department, with dynamic support from the faculty of the CSE Department. The purpose of this event was to celebrate the vibrant festival of Holi while fostering creativity, cultural expression, and student engagement within our department. Various engaging competitions were organized as part of the celebration.
The celebration of Rangotsav — Phoolon ki Holi brings a variety of benefits, both cultural and educational, for students and the university community, as:
1. Cultural Appreciation:
It promotes traditional Indian culture by celebrating Holi in a creative and eco-friendly way, using flowers instead of colors, spreading awareness about sustainable festivities.
2. Creativity and Talent Showcase:
Competitions like Rangoli, Essay Writing, Reel Making, and Mehndi give students a platform to showcase their artistic, literary, and digital creativity, boosting their confidence.
3. Student Engagement and Teamwork:
Events like this encourage participation, teamwork, and collaboration, strengthening bonds among students and fostering a sense of community within the CSE Department.
4. Skill Development:
Each competition hones different skills — writing and critical thinking (Essay Writing), design and artistic flair (Rangoli and Mehndi), and modern content creation (Reel Making).
5. Stress Relief and Enjoyment:
Celebrating festivals on campus provides a break from academic routines, helping students relax, recharge, and maintain a healthy balance between work and play.
6. Recognition and Motivation:
Awarding winners not only acknowledges their talents but also inspires others to participate and excel in upcoming events.
7. Inclusivity and Harmony:
Holi, a festival of colors and unity, brings together students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and cultural harmony.
The winners were as follows:
1. Rangoli Competition: (Total Participation: - 3 teams)
1st Prize: Simranjeet Kaur and Anmol (B-Tech CSE AI & ML, 2nd Semester)
2. Essay Writing Competition: (Total Participation: - 12 students)
1st Prize: Loveleen Bains (B-Tech CSE AI & ML, 2nd Semester)
2nd Prize: Palpreet Singh (B-Tech CSE AI & ML, 2nd Semester)
3. Reel Making Competition: (Total Participation: - 7 teams)
1st Prize: Nancy and Anchal (B-Tech CSE, 2nd Semester)
2nd Prize: Jasvir Singh (B-Tech CSE AI & ML, 2nd Semester)
4. Mehndi Competition: (Total Participation: - 20 students)
1st Prize: Sarbjot (B-Tech CSE AI & ML, 2nd Semester)
2nd Prize: Diksha (B-Tech CSE, 6th Semester)
The competitions were judged by Er. Ramanpreet Kaur and Er. Gurjit Kaur, whose fair and insightful evaluations ensured the most deserving candidates were awarded.
The event concluded with an award distribution ceremony, where the prizes were graciously presented by Worthy Dr. Nisha Sharma and Prof. Dr. Jagdeep Kaur. Their presence and encouragement added prestige and inspiration to the celebration.
"Rangotsav - Phoolon ki Holi" was a resounding success, bringing together students and faculty in a joyful celebration of art, culture, and community. The CSE Department looks forward to organizing more such events to nurture talent and foster a vibrant campus life.
