Cyber Jagrit Bharat – National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2025

Introduction:

With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and the benign endorsement of Hon’ble Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar (Vice Chancellor), Mr. (Prof.) Rajinder Kumar (Registrar), and Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Dhir (Dean Academics), Sant Baba Bhag Singh University actively participated in the nationwide initiative “Cyber Jagrit Bharat”, organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) in October 2025.

About the Session:

Under this initiative, a Guest Lecture on Cyber Security, Cyber Crime, and Cyber Safety was hosted by the UGC. The esteemed speaker, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Director / Scientist ‘E’ at the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, graced the event with his valuable insights.

Dr. Gaurav Gupta is the first scholar in India to be awarded a Ph.D. in Digital Forensics on the topic “Study on Digital Forensics for Detection of Computer Frauds and Cyber Crimes” from Jadavpur University, Kolkata (2009). He received the ISCA Young Scientist Award (2010) from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for his pioneering work in Digitized Document Fraud Detection.

With over 18 years of research experience in the field of Digital Forensics, Dr. Gupta has contributed significantly to developing scalable, cost-effective, and efficient solutions for detecting computer frauds and cyber crimes. His areas of expertise include digital document authentication, steganography, color QR code technology, forensic investigation tools, and date/time stamp authentication. He has also served with the Directorate of Forensic Science, Hyderabad, and KPMG, where he developed conceptual and prototype solutions for digital investigations admissible in the Court of Law.

Cyber Safety Practices: Preventive strategies for individuals and institutions.

Dr. Gupta emphasized the growing importance of cyber hygiene and awareness in today’s digital era. He discussed practical approaches for protecting personal and organizational data from cyber threats, phishing, and online fraud. The session proved highly informative and engaging, inspiring participants to stay vigilant in cyberspace.

Conclusion:

The Cyber Jagrit Bharat lecture successfully instilled a sense of digital responsibility among students and faculty. Participants gained a deeper understanding of cyber threats and the role of individuals in ensuring a safer digital environment. The initiative aligned with the national mission of promoting cyber awareness and resilience across academic institutions.
