“ BLOOD DONATION CAMP”
To celebrate the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day,” the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences organized a “BLOOD DONATION CAMP” on 20th Sep. 2024 at SBBSU, Jalandhar.
Under the Aegis of IQAC, the camp was organized in collaboration with NSS Unit, SBBSU and in association with Shrimann Superspeciality Hospital, Jalandhar. It was set up in OPD, Physiotherapy, Block 17, adjacent to the dispensary with all necessary facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the donors.
The camp's major goal was to contribute to the essential supply of blood to the Patients in need due to emergencies, surgeries, and medical conditions. The secondary goal was to spread awareness about Blood Donation services to the camp visitors and students to motivate them to contribute to this noble cause.
The camp was inaugurated by the Honorable Chancellor, Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji and Sant Baba Janak Singh Ji, with an Ardaas ceremony followed by the formal welcome of the medical professionals’ team from Shrimann Super speciality Hospital, Jalandhar.
Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar (Worthy, Vice-Chancellor, SBBSU), Dr. Vijay Dhir (Dean Academics, SBBSU) and Dr. Shweta Singh (Dean UIS) were among the other dignitaries present during the inaugural session.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of a certified medical professionals team from Shrimann Super Speciality Hospital, Jalandhar with strict adherence to the safety protocols ensuring the health and wellbeing of the donors.
About 70 volunteers enthusiastically donated blood in this camp out of which 12 were first time donors. Among the volunteers, many of them were university students. The youth from the nearby villages also participated in the camp as volunteer.
All donors were given post donation refreshments and awarded with the certificates.
Besides, Organ Donation registration was also done and by the staff of Shrimann Superspeciality Hospital Jalandhar.
Overall, the camp was a success and highlighted the spirit of community service and the power of collective action in saving lives. The department encourage.
