Conference is being Organised for the first time in the country on the theme: “Emerging challenges in Justice Delivery System”. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has inaugurated “International Lawyers” conference at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 23rd September 2023 at 10 AM. During the inauguration ceremony on Saturday, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud was the chief guest while Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Lord Chancellor and secretary of state for justice of United Kingdom Alex chalk KC will be the guests of honor. The conference aims to serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue and discussion on various legal topics of national and international importance, foster exchange of ideas and experiences, and strength International cooperation and understanding on legal issues. This conference, which is being organized for the first time in the country, discussed topics such as emerging legal trends, challenges in cross border litigation, legal technology and environment law etc.
At the inaugural ceremony Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud highlights the Umbrella framework which gives birth to collaborations of nations, institution and lawyers to bring out the best practices around the world to enhance the justice delivery system not only in India but the globe. Hon’ble Law minister appreciates the amendments brought into existent legislations such as commercial law, arbitration access to justice and legal etc. Hon’ble PM Narender Modi in his address said that the conference is perfect example of “Vasudev kutumbkum” the word is one home. Throwing light on the independence struggle appreciates the contribution of lawyers in freedom struggle. Further in his address he express in his concern for myriad of global challenges that can be tackle only through shared opinion and collaboration among nations. The international conference bring to the table the issues which needs immediate attention such as justice delivery system and justice access, global law for global issues, alternate dispute resolution system in international scenario, aspects of artificial intelligence, legal education for future lawyers. On Sunday the valedictory ceremony took Place. Honble Home minister Amit Shah while addressing the ceremony expressed the proposed criminal laws –Bartiya nyaya Sanhita (BNS-2023), Bartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita ( BNSS-2023) and the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA -2023 ) which was introduced in the Lok Sabha on august 11 to replace the British era Indian penal code 1860, Criminal procedure Act 1898 and the Indian Evidence act 1872,respectively. He added: “India’s criminal system was imprinted with colonial law. All three bills do not have colonial imprint but have the flavor of Indian soil. The central point of these three laws was to protect the constitutional and human rights of citizens as well as their personal rights. “The Home Minister said that the new laws are coming after almost 160 years with a completely new approach and new System. “Shah said that the government was also in the process of creating three ecosystems necessary to support them. We feel proud privilege that students as well as faculty (300 approx.) of university Institute of Law, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University have attended the conference via shared You Tube link on Saturday, 23rd September within the premises of University whereas on the next day i.e. On 24th September 2023, the Zoom link has been shared by the department through which the students and faculty have marked their presence in the Conference.
