Webinar on Career Counselling

Students’ Counselling Cell, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University organized a webinar on ‘Career Counselling’ through online platform.
The Resource Person for the webinar was Dr. Gurmit Singh, Associate Professor, Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana, Punjab. He has Authored 3 books and contributed 7 chapters in edited books. He is also a Member of selection panel for colleges of Education under P.U. Chandigarh in Education, Pedagogy of Social Studies, Pedagogy of Economics and Pedagogy of History. The webinar was started by a welcome address by Dr. Shaveta Sharma. She introduced resource person and gave a brief idea about the topic. Dr. Gurmit Singh gave a brief introduction about the various opportunities and scope in the field of Education, Medical, Non- Medical and Civil Services. He suggested varied ways that how to opt the career in one’s life depending on the capabilities and potential. He talked about how to focus on giving examples of various successful people, that how they achieved the success in spite of having lack of facilities and financial support. The students cleared their doubts by asking various questions regarding their confusions, they usually face while deciding their career. He also apprised the students with various career options in teaching. He motivated the students to be confident and communicative in life. Besides, hard work, time management and focus on the career opted are important aspects to be taken care of. He suggested that we should choose the subject and area in which we’re genuinely interested and only then we will be able to succeed and make a name for ourselves. Mr. Anmol Preet Pal Singh and Ms. Rajveer Kaur, Institute Coordinators (Students’ Counselling Cell) were also present. An interesting question and answer session was also there. More than 90 students participated in the event. We received good response from students and also they gave very good feedback. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Convener of the programme.
