With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji, able guidance of respected Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar , and under the aegis of IQAC, University Institute of Sciences in collaboration with Punjab Pollution Control Board, Patiala have celebrated World water Day 2022 on 22nd March 2022.
Chief Guests of the event were Dr Adarsh Pal Vig, (Chairman, PPCB, Patiala), Er Gulshan Raj, (Chief Engineer, PPCB, Ludhiana), Er Gurinderjeet Singh Majithia (Chief Engineer Air Quality PPCB, Jalandhar), Er Kuldip Singh, Executive Engineer, PPCB, Jalandhar) and Er Jatinder Soni (SDO,PPCB, Jalandhar).
Event begin with Lamp lightening ceremony by chief guest, Chancellor, SBBSU, Vice Chancellor, SBBSU and Management of SBBSU. Theme of this year WWD was: “Ground water: Making the invisible visible”. On this occasion , there was an Expert Talk Delivered by Dr Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board,Patiala. He signifies the importance of water conservation, need for protecting our water resources and stressed to adopt more and more water harvesting, conservation techniques. He has also highlighted the alarming situation of water pollution and need of propecting groung water contamination.
Different departments of UIS have organized various theme based activities i.e. Awareness ralley, Slide show on water conservation, Play, Mime, Poster presentation, Model Making. Registration for participation is without any registration fee.
Registration link Event was began with awareness rally in SBBSU campus by students and faculty of University Institute of sciences. Students from various disciplines have participated in different activities enthusiastically. In Slide show, students have presented theme based power point presentations on water conservation, different strategies adopted at national and global level for water conservation. Students have presented drip irrigation, rain water harvesting system, mulching farming, hanging garden etc and many more. Theme based skit/play and mime were the main focus of the event presented by students of Life Sciences & Allied Health Sciences. Theme based poster presentation, rangoli making and model making have also been conducted. Judgement of each activity was carried out on the basis of concept, presentability, innovative idea and Q/A session. Winners have been awarded with certificates by Chief Guest of the event. To mark the day, Plantation by guests have been conducted in botanical garden, SBBSU.
