Sant Baba Bhag Singh University observed ‘No Air-conditioner Day (No Air-con Day) and Power Saving Day’ under the aegis of IQAC and MoE-IIC on 30th June, 2022 (Thursday). Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar, Vice-Chancellor of the Sant Baba Bhag Singh University informed that under Green Campus Initiative, the University shall observe ‘No Air-conditioner Day (No Air-con Day) and Power Saving Day’ on every Thursday to save energy, reduce the emission of greenhouse gases such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and protect environment. No Air-con Day and Power Saving Day addresses the burning issues of global warming and climate change. It will also help to generate awareness about the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal no. 7 entitled ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’ for ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Dr. Dharmjit Singh Parmar said that excessive use of power results in unnecessary financial load, increased electricity bills and decreased available electricity for common man. One should save electricity and energy in order to make it available for all the people in the world. The amount of energy saved is equal to the amount of energy earned. Therefore, celebration of this day is a step towards energy conservation and sustainable development. On the occasion, CA&FO, Mr. Dharamvir Pathak; Director IQAC and Dean UIET, Dr. Vijay Dhir; Director R & D, Dr. Vikas; Director Sports, Dr. R. S. Pathania; Dean Academics, Dr. Aneet Kumar; Dean UIS, Dr. Shweta Singh; Head Botanical & Environmental Sciences, Dr. Vikrant Jaryan; Dy. Dean UIET, Dr. Jagdeep Kaur; Dy. Registrar, Mr. Roop Singh and Registrar, Dr. Indu Sharma also appreciated the innovative idea of celebration of No Air-con Day and Power Saving Day at the University.
