With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji), the benign endorsement of Sant Baba Sarwan Singh Ji (Chancellor, SBBSU) and under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Dharamjit Singh Parmar (Vice-Chancellor, SBBSSU), Department of Physical Sciences (under the aegis of IQAC) have successfully conducted webinar on "Advancements in Materials and Osteoporosis " on 11th May 2022. The resource person for this was Prof. DR Balbir Singh Kaith, HAG Professor, Department of Chemistry, NIT Jalandhar 144 011 (Punjab) India. Dr Kaith also served as the Visitor’s Nominee (President of India Nominee) in the Selection Boards for the Faculty positions in Sciences in NITs. Presently Dr Kaith is Visitor’s Nominee (President of India Nominee) in Selection Board (Chemistry) to IIT Mandi (HP). Dr Kaith is ranked among the Top 2% Scientists of the World as per the survey conducted by STANFORD UNIVERSITY, US for the period 2019-20 and 2020-21. Research areas of Dr Kaith includes Smart Materials and their applications in sustained / controlled drug delivery systems, controlled release of agrochemicals, removal of toxic dyes and heavy metal ions from the contaminated water etc
He is the recipient of ICC award 2018, NIT Jalandhar Best Teacher Award 2018, HIM Science Congress Fellow of the year Award 2013-2014, NIT Hamirpur Commendation Award 2003. ICAS-New Delhi Chapter (IOC) Excellence in Science Award. Webinar was commenced with the welcome address by Worthy Vice Chancellor Sir. There were more than 115 participants in this webinar. Lecture was highly informative. Webinar expert has provided a concrete knowledge about Osteoporosis: causes, symptoms, different stages and remedies. Expert has provided a comparative study: How cases of osteoporosis are drastically rising in Asian continent as compared to Africa?. Resource person have explained recent advancements in biomaterials especially which are used in bone repair, hydrogel based nanocomposites, chitosan PLGA based matrix as effective biomaterials. This webinar was full of knowledge and a guiding tracking for young researchers. Sir has also stressed on importance of old therapies of our mothers/Grandmothers. Webinar was concluded with Vote of thanks by Dr Mithu Maiti Jana, Convener of webinar and Dr Nisha Sharma (Head , Department of Physical Sciences.). There is no registration fee for the webinar. e-Certificates have been issued to all the participants on the successful participation and submission of Feedback form of the Webinar (Feedback form provided at the end of the online session).
