World Animal Welfare Day

World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare celebrated annually on October 4. With the heavenly blessings of Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) under the supervision and patronage of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar, the Department of Life Sciences and Allied Health Sciences celebrated this day on 4th October, 2021 by organizing an expert talk. The title of the talk was Companion Animal Behavior: Their behavior problems and solutions and the keynote speaker was Dr Ranjana Cheema, Retired Principal Scientist and Head, College of Animal Biotechnology, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Approximately 50 students of both UG and PG classes attended the talk along with the faculty members of the department.

The talk began with welcome note by Dr Aksh Sharma, Assistant Professor. During the talk, Dr Cheema highlighted the role the animals play as a companion in human life. Besides, she demonstrated different behavior patterns of the animals under various situations. She emphasized to recognize the sufferings of the animals and take appropriate steps towards the welfare of these creatures. Besides she also encouraged the students to be a part of the NGOs who work towards the welfare of animals. The lecture was followed by queries of the students. At the end, Dr Aksh Sharma, delivered a vote of thanks to our respected speaker of the day for sparing her precious time from the busy schedule and sharing her valuable knowledge and expertise. She also thanked the Coordinator Dr Shweta Singh for organizing such event and all the faculty members and students for making this event successful.
