“Empowering Women and Girls through Pre-Institution Mediation and Legal Aid"

Continuing with the legacy of providing quality education to the students especially from rural areas SBBS University endeavors to organize, training programs, seminars, conferences, workshops for the students in the premises of SBBS university, University institute of law, with the heavenly blessing of Sant Baba Dilawar Singh Ji (Braham ji), and constant motivation of Sant Baba Manmohan Singh ji, Chancellor, Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Dharamjit Singh Parmar, , Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Aneet Kumar, able leadership Dy. Dean of UIL Prof. Dr. Pooja Bali, , under Aegis of District Legal Service Authority, Jalandhar.
University Institute of law, SBBSU, has successfully conducted One day seminar on “Empowering Women and Girls through Pre-Institution Mediation and Legal Aid". On 14th Feb, 2024 a lecture was given by Adv. Rahul Rampal Sharma, who is Former Joint Secretary of Bar Association and a panel member of DLSA, Jalandhar. The lecture was began with welcome speech given by Dr. Pooja Bali, Dy. Dean/UIL, in her speech she highlights the importance of International Day of women and girls in science which falls on 11th Feb every year. While addressing the student she recognized the role of women and girls in science that they are not only act as beneficiary but also as an agent of change. This is followed by keynote speaker Adv. Rahul Rampal Sharma, he began his speech with constitutional mandate of free legal aid, further he tells the student about the legal service authority provide free legal aid to women, handicapped, senior citizen, children etc. He throws light on various aspects of alternate dispute resolution system in which he primarily focused of pre institution mediation. He enlightened the students about the procedure, importance and exceptions of mediation. Along with this he also highlights that pre institution mediation is tool that can be use for achieving gender equality.
The seminar was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, UIL, SBBSU. In her vote of thanks she extended her gratitude to the keynote speaker for taking some time out of his busy schedule and giving the student valuable insights into this crucial issue of Empowering Women and Girls through Pre-Institution Mediation and Legal Aid.
