International Day of Women And Girls in Science

With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh ji, able guidance of respected Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dharmjit Singh Parmar, under the aegis of IQAC, University Institute of Sciences have celebrated International Day of Women and Girls in Science (IDWGS-2024) on 14th February, 2024.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is implemented by UNESCO and UN-Women in collaboration institutions and civil society partners that aim to promote women and girls in science. This Day is an opportunity to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.
As a part of the event, UIS have organized various activities signifying the active role of women and girls in Science such as Theme-based PowerPoint Presentation, Declamation, Rangoli, Card Making, Poem Recitation, Singing, Dancing.
About 135 students of various disciplines of science have participated in different events. In ppt presentation and declamation, students have portrayed the brief biography and scientific contributions of some renowned women scientists/doctors/engineers and academicians. Students have made different patterns of Rangoli with vibrant colors depicting the discoveries, ideas and contributions which our great women scholars have given to the society. These rangoli patterns have depicted many impressive views. Audience have highly appreciated the concepts of the event.
In card making section, students from different disciplines have prepared beautiful cards about scientific contribution and multidimensional roles of women in the society. Student from BPT sang a song with his melodious voice and Some students gave a fabulous performance by dancing. One faculty and student from Physical Sciences have presented self composed poems. The events concluded smoothly and have provided good learning as well as refreshing experiences for the students and teachers. E-certificated have been provided to all participants.
