World Ozone Day

The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, more generally known as the World Ozone day , is celebrated on 16th September every year ,commemorating the date on which Montreal Protocol for the abatement of substances that deplete ozone Layer was signed in 1987.
Every year, the UN Environment Programme will declare a specific theme to protect and preserve the ozone layer.
The theme for 2023 for World Ozone Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is “Preserving Ozone, Protecting our Environment”.
This event is a gathering of hundreds of thoughtful, innovative doers, who share a common interest in practical solutions for current Environmental issues. This is an important day for Indian Scientific Community.
With the heavenly blessings of Revered Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji (Brahm Ji) and with the benign endorsement of our Hon'ble Chancellor Sant Baba Manmohan Singh Ji, under the able guidance of Respected Vice Chancellor Sir and under the aegis of IQAC and IIC, Department of Physical Sciences have celebrated World Ozone Day on 19th September 2023.
The main aim is to remind the world about the depletion of ozone layer and its dangers. Various theme based scientific activities have been conducting such as, Declamation, on spot poster making, skit. Many students participated in the activities and showcased their talent and creativity. Ms Harpreet Kaur, BSc NM 3rd sem has recited a self written poem on Environmental sustainability. Students of Physical Sciences and UIS Science Club have presented skits depicting importance of Ozone layer and the anthropogenic activities affecting Ozone layer. These skits were message for the society and stakeholders to take timely and necessary steps to combat the future consequences of environmental degradation. Students have portrayed their ideas beautifully in the form of posters depicting the harmful effects of ozone layer depletion and the steps to be taken to protect it.
E- Certificates are awarded to all the participants who participated in the various themebased activities.
The function ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Honey Sharma (COD, Physical Sciences), Dr. Nisha Sharma (HOD, Physical Sciences) and Dr. Shweta Singh (Dean UIS).
We are the agents of Environment change. Let’s join our hands to preserve life on this planet by protecting Ozone Shield. Let’s take an oath to protect Ozone Layer and save earth.
