Medical Diagnosis Camp (2023)

Date: 15-09-2023

The department of Life Sciences, Allied Health Sciences & Agriculture Sciences organized “MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS CAMP” at Gazipur, Adampur Road, District Jalandhar.
The camp was organized in collaboration with a charity trust, Prabh Aasra Welfare Society and Bansal Clinical Laboratory, Nasrala.
The major objective of the camp was to provide free healthcare and diagnostic services to the camp visitors and local residents of Adampur Block.
A group of 20 students under the headship of two faculty members Ms KAMALDEEP KAUR and Ms HIMANI took participation in this event and assisted in the conduct of related activities viz. registration, sample collection, and testing.
Various diagnostic procedures such as blood sugar testing, blood group testing, test for rheumatoid arthritis etc. were done free of cost.
Many advanced test procedures such as Lipid Profile, Liver Function tests, Renal Function tests, CBC and tests of Dengue and typhoid etc. were offered at very reduced pricing.
Around 30 people in total received medical care at the camp, and three of those people were diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. These three people were given advice on how to proceed with further testing and treatment.
most of the people who had their blood sugar tested were found to be diabetic. These people were encouraged to monitor their blood sugar levels regularly and to eat more foods with a low glycemic index in order to keep their blood sugar levels under control.
Our collaborative partners, helped us in all possible ways to make the event successful. The Prabh Asra Welfare Society, provided us with all essential amenities such as finding a suitable location accessible to all, providing sitting and drinking water arrangements for visitors, washroom facilities needed to conduct the event at the desired location.
Our second collaborative partner, IVD Bansal Clinical Laboratories, Nasrala assisted us in diagnostic procedures and reporting.
The expenses for the transportation and consumables such as blood sampling vials, lancets, cotton rolls, masks, gloves, needles, syringes, glucometer and testing kits etc. were provided by the SBBSU.
Overall; the camp was amazing experience for the students. All the camp organizing members were felicitated with mementos by the members of Prabh Asra Welfare Society.
