Awareness Programme To Avoid The Use Of Single Use Plastics

The Environment Sustainability and Management Cell, SBBSU in collaboration with NSS Cell under the supervision of Honorable Chancellor, Sant Sarwan Singh Ji and Vice Chancellor Dr. Dharamjit Singh Parmar under the aegis of IQAC organized an “AWARENESS PROGRAMME TO AVOID THE USE OF SINGLE USE PLASTICS” on 28th Oct, 2021. This activity was organized with reference to UGC's letter to UGC letter D.O.No.F.1-541201g (Website/Swachhata Hi Sewa) regarding conducting programmes to avoid Single Use Plastic. An awareness rally was conducted in SBBSU Cafeteria to spread awareness to canteen owners to avoid the usage of plastic. Participants of the rally highlighted the reasons to avoid single-use plastic, and suggested sustainable alternatives instead of single-use plastic since this plastic is hazardous to health and also causes environmental degradation. The students displayed placards with slogans to create an awareness on the ill-effects of using the plastic, substitutes for plastic, reducing and recycling the plastics. The students around canteen were acquainted to avoid single use plastic and suggested to “refuse polyethylene carry bags when offered by shopkeepers.
