Free Medical Diagnosis And Awearness Camp (2023)

Under the aegis of IQAC and Institutional Innovation Cell, the Department of Life Sciences, Allied Health Sciences & Agriculture Sciences conducted an extension activity (FREE MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS AND AWEARNESS CAMP) on the 21st March 2023 at .Village Droli Khurd, Dist., Jalandhar.
The camp was organized to mark the celebration of WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY-2023 in collaboration with local NGO Daroli Education and Welfare Society.
Every year, 24th March is celebrated as World Tuberculosis Day to raise awareness about the world’s deadliest infectious disease Tuberculosis.
The major components of this extension activity were
Awareness Campaign about Tuberculosis and HIV infection (AIDS) causes, prevention and diagnosis
Free Blood Testing including, ABO typing, Blood Sugar, RA Factor and Hb.
Total 19 volunteers including one teacher and 18 students conducted the camp at the pre-decided place. They were divided into two groups to fulfill both the objectives of the event.
The first group was assigned duty to aware the local public about the deadly disease AIDS and Tuberculosis. The students disseminate the information regarding causes, transmission, symptoms and testing available for AIDS and Tuberculosis.
The students went door to door and talked to local people and make them aware about the fatal consequences of these diseases.
They also motivated the local residents for getting themselves tested and informed about the various government aided diagnostic centres where testing facilities is available free of cost for instance PHC, CHC & civil hospitals.
The second group of students stayed in the office premises of Daroli Education and welfare Society to conduct the general health checkup including BP monitoring, ABO typing and blood sugar testing of the camp visitors.
Around 30 people got the benefit of testing in this camp. Most of the people tested for blood sugar were diabetic and were motivated for regular monitoring of their blood sugar level. They were guided to consume more food with hypoglycemic index to keep their sugar level under control.
The consumable for testing (test kits, syringes, needles, cotton swabs, spirit and sanitizers etc.) were provided by the Sant Baba Bhag Singh University.
The members of Droli Education Welfare Society assisted us in all possible ways to conduct the event.
Besides, physiotherapy treatment was also given to the patients coming with cervical, knee and other joint pain problems by the physiotherapy discipline of Allied Health sciences.
Overall; the camp was wrapped up on a successful note and highly appreciated by the Sarpanch and Incharge, Daroli Education Welfare Society.
